Transcription Dorchester Letter May 18, 1813

In Council Annapolis May 18, 1913

Gentlemen,
It would afford the Executive of Maryland much pleasure to accompany their answer to your Memorial with the arms you deem necessary for your defense but the demand made on them from different parts of the State have left none at their disposal, In the communication made by the Governor to the Legislature he has recommended an appropriation to be made to procure the necessary munitions of war. If this measure should be adopted it would give the Executive great satisfaction to afford the citizens of Dorchester County every means of defense in their power. As part of your Memorial does not belong to the Executive Department it will be submitted to the Legislature.

We are with much respect
Levin Winder

Major William Newton and other Esquires
